Adding a new Research Publication to the Document Center

How to create your new Research Publication in Kentico

  1. Log in to Kentico
  2. Click on the arrow to the left of "Document Center"Research_1.png
  3. Click on the arrow to the left of "Research"Research_2.jpg
  4. The Research Publications are organized into two broad categories - Economy & Jobs, and Population and Demographics. Click to open one of the folders depending on which category the new Research Publications belongs to.Research_3.jpg
  5. Locate the appropriate year folder, if it exists. NOTE: To create a new year folder, right-click on the parent folder then hover over "New..." then select "BRA - Document Folder" (NOTE: folders are only for your own internal use and organizational purposes, they will NOT reflect on the external website)Research_4.jpg
  6. In the new form that appears in the center pane, type your new folder name in the "Document name" field, then hit SaveResearch_5.jpg
  7. Click "Submit for approval" and the Web content manager will approve your folderResearch_6.jpg
  8. To create the new Research Publication, right-click on the year folder name in the left-hand pane, hover over "New..." then select "BRA - Document"Research_7.jpg
  9. A new form will appear in the center pane. Fill in the "File name" and "Description" fields, and then click "Upload file" to choose your Research Publication PDF from your computer.Research_8.jpg
  10. Scroll down and select the appropriate Related Neighborhood(s) (or Select All) and Document Date (NOTE: This is the Publication Date)Research_9.jpg
  11. Scroll back to the top of the form and hit "Save"Research_10.jpg
  12. Click on the "Properties" tabResearch_11.jpg
  13. Click on "Categories"Research_12.jpg

  15. Click on the arrow to the left of "BRA-Document Type"Research_14.jpg
  16. There are three research-specific folders- "Economy & Jobs", "Other Geography", and "Population & Demographics"
  17. You can click on the arrow to the left of any of these and see the sub-categories below each. You may click the box to the left of as many of the categories as you like to select them. Note that clicking a box on a category inside a folder will automatically also select the parent category box, but you may also select the parent category alone.
  18. Scroll back up and click again on the arrow to the left of "BRA-Document Type" to close it.
  19. Click on the arrow to the left of "BRA-Department"Research_15.jpg
  20. Click the box to the left of "Research" and then click the "OK" buttonResearch_16.png
  21. Click on the "Form" tabResearch_17.jpg
  22. Click "Save", then "Submit for approval"Research_18.jpg
  23. The web team will publish your new document and you will be notified by Kentico once it is published. The new publication will appear at bostonplans.org/research/research-publicationsResearch_19.jpg
