How to publish & feature a blog post in Kentico

  1. Log in to Kentico.
  2. Navigate to News & Calendar > News & Updates
  3. Open the appropriate Year folder, and right-click on the appropriate Month folder and select New > BRA - News Day
  4. Type in the day (i.e. 07) in the "Document name:" field
  5. Click SaveSubmit for approval, and Publish
  6. Right-click on the Day folder you just created, and select New > BRA - News
  7. Paste the news headline into the Document name: and Title: fields
  8. Upload an image (dimensions should be at least 536 px x 485 px - see next step) from your desktop or other location to Small Teaser image:
  9. Upload the same image to Big Teaser Image:
  10. Click the pencil icon to the right of Big Teaser Image:
  11. In the Edit image popup that appears, select the radio button to the left of "By absolute size"
  12. For landscape-oriented images, enter 485 in the Height field and click the green "OK" button
  13. Click on the "Crop" section, and enter 536 in the Width field and 485 in the Height field
  14. Adjust crop as necessary, then click the green "OK" button
  15. Click the green "Save changes" button at the bottom of the "Edit image" popup
  16. Paste in Teaser Text if applicable
  17. Place your cursor inside the Main Content box, and then click the Paste from Word button in the WYSIWYG editor at the top of the form
  18. Paste your news content into the "Paste" popup box that appears, and then click the green "OK" button
  19. Test any links by clicking inside any of the links in the Main Content, then selecting the Insert/Edit Link button
  20. Fill in the News Date:
  21. Click the Save button at the top left of the form
  22. If applicable, add any Relationships by clicking Add related document. Neighborhoods and Planning Initiatives can be added here.
  23. Click Save again
  24. Go to the Properties tab, and then click on Categories
  25. Click the blue Add categories button
  26. Open BRA - News Category and select applicable categories
  27. Click the green OK button
  28. Go back to the Form tab, and Save, Submit for approval, and Publish

To Feature the blog post

  1. Click on the "News & Updates" page
  2. In the Form tab, click on the blue "Select" button to the right of the "Featured News:" field
  3. In the popup that appears, navigate to your news item, and click on the title to select it
  4. Make sure that the correct news item appears in the "URL:" field
  5. Click the green "Select" button
  6. Click Save, Submit for approval, and Publish
