How do I Compare Zoning Code Documents in Word?

  1. Open any document in Word. Click the "Review" tab at the top.
  2. Click "Compare" and then "Compare two versions of a document."
  3. In the pop-up window that appears, choose your Original document (desktop version of the Zoning Code article) and the Revised document (version of Zoning Code article downloaded from Municode). Note: Clicking on the arrow to the right of the "Original document" and "Revised document" fields will offer you a dropdown list of recent documents, or you can select the first option "Browse" and navigate to your document on your computer.
  4. Once you have selected both documents, fill in the "Label changes with" field. For example, you could label the changes "Municode" to make it clear that the Revised document is the Municode document. click "OK".
  5. A new document will appear, showing the Revisions in the left-hand pane. Click "File" then "Save As" and navigate to a location on your computer to save, giving it a new name.
  6. Click "Save".
  7. You can now send this revised document out for review to show the changes made from your original desktop version.
